Scabies Extremely contagious.

Causes by the scabies mite (Sarcoptes scabei)

Spread by direct physical contact.

Clinical features

Intense itching appears 4–6wk after infection.

Examination reveals burrows on the sides of fingers, wrists, ankles, and nipples.

Itching results in excoriations.

Management

Permethrin cream 5% applied from the neck down and left overnight to be washed off in the morning for the treatment of scabies

Treat all households(wife) with permethrin irrespective of symptoms or not

Advise that bed linen, towels, and clothing should be laundered after treatment.

Non-washable items should be sealed in a plastic bag and stored for one week.

Calamine lotion for itching

Crusted‘Norwegian’scabies affects mainly immunosuppressed patients. It can be treated with Ivermectin
