Pituitary gland Introduction
Pituitary Gland
The pituitary gland has two lobes anterior and posterior
lobes.
The anterior pituitary gland secretes
1. Growth hormone (GH)
2. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).
3. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).
4. Prolactin (PRL)
5. Luteinizing hormone (LH)
6. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
Posterior pituitary releases
The posterior pituitary has a storage function. Some hormones produced by the hypothalamus are stored in the posterior pituitary and then are released from here:
1 . Oxytocin
2. Antidiuretic hormone (ADH).
