Pain due to entrapment of the interdigital nerve between the third/fourth metatarsal heads

Risk factors

Wearing High heels

Foot deformities such as  flat feet

High impact sports such as jogging

Sports involving tight shoes such as snowboarding

Clinical features

Gradual onset of sudden attacks of pain or paraesthesia during walking.

Ultrasound foot

Management

Refer to orthopaedics.

Treatment is with steroid injection

Advice on footwear.

Surgical excision of the neuroma
