Wrist pain

Swelling, and tenderness in the anatomical snuffbox

Symptoms may be mild

Investigation

X-ray

Management

Refer suspected cases for scaphoid view x-rays.

If an x-ray is inconclusive and pain continues, repeat 2wk later

A bone scan or MRI can help

Spica cast

Complications

Non union/ malunion

Avascular necrosis

Arthritis

Chronic wrist pain
