High fever Usually Over 39, c

Lethargic ill-looking child

Pale child

Drooling

Soft stridor

Investigations

FBE

Blood cultures

Management

Do not examine the throat

Refer patient to ED in an ambulance

Airway support – Endotracheal intubation

Antibiotic – 3rd generation cephalosporins – Cefotaxime IV

Hib Vaccine.
